The sensuous curves and flowing lines that are the signature of artist Naomi Sarna are embodied in this hand-carved 942-carat Morganite, which floats on a base of Sterling Silver clouds. The stone features an iris inclusion that creates a rainbow effect inside the stone which Sarna purposefully highlighted in the carving. A member of the beryl family of gems, which includes Aquamarine and Emerald, Morganite has a rich history. It got its name when Tiffany & Co. chief gemologist George Kunz named it in honor of gem collector and financier J.P. Morgan for his contributions to art and science as well as his gifts to The American Museum of Natural History in New York and The Museum of Natural History in Paris. It gets is pinkish-peachy color from traces of manganese that infuse the stone when it is forming.
