A graceful seahorse swimming tranquilly through a forest of seaweed showcases the beauty of this 650-carat Burmese lavender and green Jadeite hand-carved by artist Naomi Sarna. A departure from her usual more abstract style, the seahorse came about as Naomi was carving natural discolorations out of the Jade. As she carved, Sarna noticed that the Jade was evolving into something familiar — seaweed floating in the ocean. Sarna kept carving and a seahorse emerged from the seaweed. Seahorse rests on a Bronze base with a special patina that Sarna created using heat.
